About Laura:
Laura Brown (she/her) is a board-certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP), and holds a certification as a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP) from The Menopause Society, one of only 1,300 in the country. She is also a Certified Coach by Koach Training, offering a unique set of skills many other clinicians do not possess. She has a genuine passion for women’s health, educating women about their bodies, and empowering them to make excellent decisions for their wellness. Laura began her NP career in Internal Medicine which gave her a broad spectrum of experience, and most recently worked in OBGYN which allowed her to focus on women’s health across the lifespan. Throughout her career she saw up-close the insufficiency of care, knowledge and information available to patients in midlife as they approached the menopause transition, and how their health and quality of life suffered as a result. Because of this, she has developed a deep and abiding passion for educating and empowering women in this particular phase of life!
Laura earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in History at Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina, as well as a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees, both in nursing, at Regis College in Weston, Massachusetts. She is a member in good standing of The Menopause Society, Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health, the Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners and the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health, and she is a Certified Coach through Koach Training.
When Laura steps away from work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their two young children. She loves being outside, whether gardening, hiking or reading a good book on the back porch. Laura has found that barre and hip hop classes are the secret to keeping her sanity, as well as quality time laughing with friends. She loves to cook and bake, and especially sharing these (messy) hobbies with her kiddos! She is an active member of the Chelmsford Mothers’ Club, active in her church’s Outreach Committee, a board member of the non-profit Junie’s Place which offers no-cost bereavement services to families in Massachusetts who are navigating the loss of a pregnancy or child, and she is an avid consumer of podcasts (usually related to menopause or sexual health, but occasionally some true crime!) Laura is also a third-generation female entrepreneur and is excited to continue this family tradition!
This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Flint Memorial Library.
Registration for this event opens Wednesday, January 1 at 9:00 AM.
